If you fit this description, then by all means keep reading *** My current flatmate is moving in with her boyfriend (cute, I know) so a room in my apartment is opening up, likely mid-August/September. Looking for someone fun, clean, and easy to live with to take her place. **THE SETUP** 118m². I'll let that number sit there for a second, because yes, that's genuinely huge for Amsterdam, and you will probably go your whole day without bumping into me even once if that's the vibe you're going for. Kitchen is recently renovated, fully equipped (built-in fridge, dishwasher, oven, microwave, induction). Bathroom and toilet are separate, because nobody needs to queue for both at once. The apartment is south-facing, right by Rembrandtpark, near the A10, with huge windows and a balcony that gets sun basically all day. The kind of light that makes you feel vaguely optimistic about life. **THE ROOM** 18m², east side of the apartment. My two rooms (11m² and 8m²) are on the west side, so there's real distance between us, more "pleasant flatmates" than "hear-you-sneeze-through-the-wall" energy. And yes, your room is bigger than either of mine, fair is fair ;) **HEADS UP ** My current flatmate is taking the washer/dryer and the couch with her when she leaves (and also everything that is in her room, of course). If you already have a couch you love, bring it and let's see if it works for the space. I do have a spare one in storage, but it might genuinely be too small for how big the living room is, so we may need to find a solution together either way. **RENT** Around €1250/month, all-in, gas, electricity, internet, water and garbage tax, all of it. The exact number will be confirmed once we sign the new contract after my current flatmate leaves, but this is a solid estimate. Not the cheapest room in town, but for a place this size and this light, I think it earns its keep. **ABOUT ME** I'm Maayke, 35, queer, working as a behavioral specialist supporting people in vulnerable housing situations and the professionals who work with them, around Amsterdam. My girlfriend lives in Brussels and visits a few times a month, otherwise it's usually just me holding down the fort. I work out 5 times a week, live a pretty healthy lifestyle overall, and go to bed early, around 10PM. One quirk of this apartment: the shower is right next to my bedroom, so it's the one real downside of an otherwise great place, a 1AM shower after a big night out would wake me right up. **ONE MORE THING TO KNOW** Since my girlfriend lives in Brussels, there's a decent chance I'll move there myself somewhere down the line, realistically within the next 8 to 12 months, though I honestly don't know yet. If and when that happens, whoever's living here would get first pick of finding the next person to move in. Just want to be upfront about that from the start. **WHO I'M LOOKING FOR** Someone between roughly 27 and 45, left-leaning, socially engaged, who cares about sustainability and just generally being a decent, harmonious human to live with. Someone who also leans toward an active, early-ish lifestyle would fit really well here, given the shower situation above, but no judgment at all if that's not quite you. Ideally you're out of the house for work most days, an occasional home-work day is totally fine (I have those too), but I do love having some daytime space to myself, and I think you would too. And you are *properly* clean. Not "I'll do it later" clean. Dishes-done-same-day, share-the-load clean. Bonus points if you know how to make a space feel homey. All the plants currently here belong to my outgoing flatmate, so I'm in need of a new plant person. I love them dearly, I just also apparently kill them, every time, no exceptions. Couples welcome too! I genuinely don't mind, the apartment is big enough and it splits the rent nicely for everyone. Only catch: only one person can register at the address. Pets: yes please. Bring them. I miss having animals around and will probably love your pet more than you do. And honestly? If this ends with us becoming actual, real-life, ride-or-die friends, that would be the best plot twist of the year and I will tell everyone I know about it.
